The Water Foundation

Did you know that we received national recognition from The Water Foundation for our recycling efforts?  In 2001 we were the national ECO-Auto Award winner for recycling over 10,000 scrap tires. The effort was led by Wade Jackson, a local boy scout, who was trying to attain his eagle scout status. The recycling project involved Billups becoming a drop off point for scrap tires that were in need of proper disposal. These tires were recovered from ditches, farms, and fields of our regional area. Billups provided equipment, personnel, funding and resources which included a regional ad campaign. Wade led the herculean effort with the drive and determination only a dedicated Scout could provide. Wade has since graduated from college and has started a career in law enforcement. Since Wade's effort; Billups has continued down the conservation path. We continued to recycle our scrap tires with a Environmental Protection Agency certified tire disposal firm. We also recycle our oil filters and consume our waste fluids for heating purposes in our shops. We have embarked on  waste cutting procedures regarding paper products and cardboard items. We pledge to continue our efforts!
